Michael R. Allen
Michael Allen founded Allen & Company, PC in November 2006 after recognizing the tremendous opportunity to help individuals and businesses improve their net worth and to achieve their goals.
Michael lives in Kennesaw, Georgia, with his wife Kristin and their two daughters, Eden and Elise. He enjoys playing tennis, snow skiing, lifting weights, reading, and playing piano. Michael, a former Atlanta Falcons season ticket holder, has been involved in the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and the Georgian Club, social dancing classes, and drawing and painting classes.
Before starting the firm, Michael was a supervisor at Duggan & Massey, PC, a local public accounting firm located in the affluent area of Buckhead, a prestigious suburb of Atlanta, Georgia. Michael spent considerable time providing tax planning and preparation services to high-net-worth individuals, land developers, and physicians. Michael also prepared and reviewed income, estate, and gift tax returns; planned, performed, and reviewed audit and review engagements; provided controllership services; and implemented a business planning and financial statement analysis system for use as a future service to the firm’s customers. Before my employment with Duggan & Massey, PC, Michael worked for R. Joseph Allen, PC, his father’s accounting and tax practice in Duluth, Georgia. He was responsible for preparing income tax returns, performing financial statement compilations, and preparing payroll, sales, and personal property tax returns. He has also served as a controller in Buckhead for Mid-South Restaurants, Inc., which owned and operated Arby’s quick-service restaurants in Georgia and Alabama. Before joining Mid-South Restaurants, Michael worked for Grant Thornton, LLP in Atlanta, where he exclusively performed audit engagements for mid-size businesses.
Michael graduated from the University of Georgia, earning a master’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in accounting systems. Before graduating from graduate school at the University of Georgia, Michael passed the CPA examination on my first attempt. Michael is also an alumnus of Georgia State University, where he earned a master’s degree in taxation and received the Price Waterhouse Coopers Tax Research award. My first job in college was washing dishes, which ended abruptly after two weeks so I could focus on school and play tennis in the afternoons. My favorite food is Tex-Mex; if he had a second career, it would most likely be as a food and travel critic.
